Washoku cooking class- Japanese Home Cooking and Sweets Class in Tokyo

Washoku is not simply “Japanese cuisine”; it is a traditional Japanese food culture that encompasses the selection of locally developed ingredients, cooking methods, menu composition, presentation, table manners, and annual events. In 2013, it was inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list as “Washoku: Traditional Dietary Cultures of the Japanese.

In my home kitchen, learn to prepare traditional Japanese food using the same simple ingredients and techniques I use when cooking for my family. During your 2-hour private cooking class, you will make one main dish and a seasonal side dish. Choose your main dish from Japanese favorites such as gyoza, ramen, okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), sushi rolls, yakimeshi (Japanese fried rice), karaage (Japanese fried chicken), or teriyaki salmon etc. I will share practical cooking tips and easy-to-follow techniques so you can recreate the dishes at home.
